Board of Education April Meetings Rescheduled
The Western Board of Education Work Session
has moved from April 8th to Tuesday, April 15th at 5:30p.m.
The Western Board of Education Board Meeting
has moved from April 17th to Thursday, April 24th at 6:30p.m.





Kindergarten Round-up: Parent meeting April 10th, 7:00p.m. at the Western Community Arts Center.
The Community Arts Center is located at 1400 S. Dearing Rd., Parma, MI in between the High School and the Middle School.
This will be an informational meeting for parents and sign ups for round-up testing dates are scheduled at this time. Testing is by appointment only.

Testing will be held at:
at Parma Elementary
385 Elizabeth St.
Parma, MI 49269

Round up testing dates are:

April  21, 22, & 24    4:30 pm-8:00 pm*

  April 23                     3:30 pm–8:00 pm*
*By appointment only - scheduled at the parent meeting April 10th

 Round-up is for children who will be five ON or BEFORE OCT. 1, 2014

Mother Son Bowling Event
Bean Elementary is planning an event geared towards our boys and the special ladies in their life!  Join us for an afternoon of bowling at Airport Lanes on Saturday, May 10, at 2:00 pm.  The cost is $25 per couple ($10 each for additional sons) and covers bowling, pizza, pop, a souvenir photo and a special treat!  Registrations must be received by Friday, May 2 as space is limited.  Click here for a registration form and more information.


Art Club is Returning!
Our final installment of Art Club for this school year will take place in May.  The Jackson School of the Arts is hosting a Spring Art Club at Bean Elementary on Thursdays, May 8, 15, and 22 after school until 5:00 pm.  Click here for a registration form and more information.  Payment/registration needs to go directly to Jackson School of the Arts.

Kids Power Karate
Kids Power Karate is offering a new session for April through June.  Click here for more information.

Fairy Festival
The Jackson School of the Arts is having their 7th annual Fairy Festival!  There are a wide variety of activities to choose from.  Click here for more information.


Annual Lugnuts Outing
There may still be snow on the ground and the themperatures are struggling to pass the freezing point, but it's time to think about spring and our annual Western Elementary Lugnuts Baseball Outing!  We'll watch the Lansing Lugnuts take on the Great Lakes Loons on Friday, May 30th, 2014 at 7:05 pm.  Tickets for our group will be available until Saturday, April 26, 2014.  Payment and registration needs to be forwarded to Elyse Conley-Oliver at the address on the registration form.  Click here for a registration form.  Tickets are picked up at the "Will Call" window on game day. 

SAU Cougar Science Camp
Spring Arbor University is already getting ready for this summer's Cougar Science Camp.  The theme this year is "Lights, Camera, Chemical Reaction!"  Camp runs daily June 23-27th from 8:30 am until 12:30 pm.  Space is limited and the cost is $135 per student.  Click here for the registration form and more information.

Center for Family Health Dental Program
The Center for Family Health has a wide range of dental programs aimed at making sure everyone receives the health care they need.  They provide services such as exams, cleanings, x-rays, fillings, sealants, fluoride treatments, extractions and more for children, teens and adults in Jackson County.  Click here for more information.

Kimball Camp YMCA
The YMCA has released their Summer Camp 2014 brochure with a multitude of exciting opportunities available.  Each student was given a brochure and additional information may be found on their website (www.kimballcamp.com) or by calling 517-283-2168 or emailing office@kimballcamp.com.

Albion College Sports Clinics
Keep your kids active this winter by participating in some or all of the Sports Clinics offered by Albion College.  Students aged 4-11 are eligible and there is no cost for the clinics.  Click here for a list of clinics and a registration form.

Western Backpack Program Returns
Through the generous donations of area supporters, Western School District is happy to team up with the South Central Food Bank to offer elementary students the Western Backpack Program.  This supplemental food program provides a backpack of kid-friendly food every Wednesday.  Click here to view the packet students brought home.  Additional copies are available by contacting the school office.

Hearing & Vision Clinics
